n., A small seaside shrub (Wikstroemia sp.). The root bark is used externally for sores, and stems and bark of branches for coughs. Branches and leaves are mixed with rasped seeds of Barringtonia asiatica (syn. B. speciosa) to stupefy fish. See ʻakia #1.
